Just a quickie...OMG I can't believe it was March the last time I wrote on this blog....WOW the time flew by! My son was home in July and we did all kinds of great things and then he went back to his base in California. Our other son graduated high school and is now a freshman at Ball State. I am so proud of him. He worked his first real job all summer and starts his second job that he found on his own. Our darling girl will be getting her permit to drive in just a few days and will turn 16 I cannot believe the time has gone by so quickly!
Darrell and I celebrate 21 years of wedded madness come Monday and I have been harrassing daily for 24 years now since July :) That poor man, what did he ever do to deserve this kind of torture, it was all that sneeking around in high school I think HAHAHAHAHA
Our doxies are sassy and I am sassier Until later.....

Generating images the easy way
So I played around on Big Huge Labs...whew thats a fun website...I could see how the library could use it for making promo posters for events and to get the word out on all kinds of programs and staffing notices. I made this poster showcasing my stunning incredible daughter...I'm not a proud mama or anything and thought I would share...
BTW with this post I am done with #11 *doing the snoopy dance*

YooHoo YouTube
So for this installment of 23 things we are covering Youtube. I really like Youtube. I have found all sorts of quirky videos and snippets and replays of the life collective on it. I have chosen to embed a blast from the past first entitled: "Cookie Monster at the Library"
and for my shared video a lovely educational film from 1947 called:
"Do You Want To Be a Librarian?"
Happy Viewing!

Goodie Goodie Good Reads
I have belonged to Good Reads for about a year or so but to get over the next hump as it were in 23 things, I needed to join and compare Library Thing to Good Reads, sooooo I did! I don't really like Library Thing. It doesn't seem as user friendly to me as Good Reads is. Plus you have to pay once you add more than 200 books. It also relies heavily on the evil that is Amazon. Amazon and I are not friends. It is ok if you are friends with them, we can be civil, I am not jealous, I admire their stuff. I just don't use them. :oD Here are 5 books I will be reading this year. I will be listing them on both Good Reads and Library Thing!
1. Lover Reborn by J.R. Ward
2. Force of Nature by C.J. Box
3. In One Person by John Irving
4. Home by Toni Morrison
5. I, Michael Bennett by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge
I could see the library using Library Thing over Good Reads for literary guides but for a tool to help patrons I believe Good Reads is the better tool hands down. It is user friendly, colorful, and easy to navigate.
Happy Reading, Sorting, Browsing, and Debating

The "Face" off with Facebook
Oh facebook, how I like thee....sometimes. I like that I can get messages about up coming events. I like that venders and advertisers I choose, can send me coupons, and contests, links, and goodies. I like that I reconnected with my high school friends, and that I can keep in touch with family and see pictures as things happen! I love that I can connect with my favorite authors!
Oh facebook, how I dislike thee...sometimes. I dislike that I feel the need to check it as often as my email, to get up coming events. I dislike that sometimes the only way to get certain deals from stores is through facebook. I dislike that some of my family feels that facebook is the only way they can connect with reality! I hate all the farm/city/garden/etcville updates my people feel I need to know about.
I chose to use my current facebook instead of creating a new account for this chapter of 23 things. I asked Tippy to friend me, I also asked Robin from tech services to friend me, she makes me smile :) I can see the pluses of the library using facebook. It will be a great tool to get the word out on upcoming programs and to announce when the new computer suites and up and running. It would also give the library a chance to connect with authors and publishers.
The only reason I could possibly see that might hinder a library not getting on facebook would be worries over hacking and/or privacy issues. I will think about it some more. Until next time......

Tweeting the Bird Twitter
I have had a twitter account longer than I have had facebook. It was one of those things I had heard about and thought lets try this out and then that "mweh" whatever took over. It has helped me keep little notes about books I have read or will read and that was all I ever used it for.
But then Ashton and Demi got ahold of it and it blew up like the BOMB!!
After that I starting doing facebook, kind of a, to keep an eye on the kiddos kind of thing and I hate to be a trender, so my tweets tapered off. I signed in now and again but nothing like the beginning and I never added new followees or became a follower of anyone new until around Christmas of this past year when I realized I was being silly.
Now with 23 things, I can start tweeting again with semi-reckless abandon. Today alone I began following TCPL, several local tweeters, and several more from home state. I really look forward to finding out if the bear from Teton National Park tweets all the time :oD. My name on Twitter is Boldlyreal, be forewarned sometimes I swear! hahaha

Picnik explains
So to change Che I first upload his picture from the TCPL flickr site to my pictures. Then I decided it was too red so I made it Sepia toned. I added a shadowed circle to soften and antique his book look. Lastly I sharpened the whole picture for clarity. Wow and I only took two posts to do what I was suppose to do in one. :)
PICNIK WITH SOME ICE COLD HANDS AND FIRE BRAND CHE
I have the coldest nose and hands anymore ....maybe it has to do with the fact that the branch never gets above 67 degrees. This winter has been very warm but, my hands and nose are not convinced.
For this installment of 23 things we needed to alter a picture. I found a lovely picture of Che Guevara from the Flickr page of TCPL and I took away a little bit of color. Below is the before and after! I can finally smile :oD I have module 6 complete!!!!!!

The Wedding Letters
I read The Wedding Letters by Jason F. Wright, I was really excited to read this because I LOVED his other book The Wednesday Letters so much! I loved that book so much I recommended it toa gazillion people at Borders, I told my friends about it, I pestered my husband to write letters to me, of course he still doesn't. It is truly a beautiful book! I still highly recommend it, if you haven't read it go READ it today it is wonderful and I love it!
I can't say the same thing about its follow up. It is a nice book, but I felt rushed and it had a bow on it, but it was tied crooked and it wasn't big and red like, they are supposed to be if you are going to make it a marshmallow world ending!
Maybe I was expecting to much after the first book, because it was so good. *Sigh*
I have started 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami, it is compelling so far.....
